OVERVIEW/THE BEST COUNTRY INNS
Frommer's Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, 3rd Edition 2003
Adair: This is one of the newer country mansions in the White Mountains (it
dates from 1927), but innkeepers Judy and Bill Whitman have done a stellar job
of infusing this Georgian Revival with a time-honored elegance. Tucked away
in a little-tracked corner of the White Mountains, this inn boasts a superb
dining room and easy access to mountain activities and golf."
PLAY HARD, REST EASY ... NEW ENGLAND
The Ultimate Active Getaway Guide
by Malcolm Campbell, 2002
"When you first set eyes upon Adair while driving up the property's long
driveway, you'll immediately understand how guests have been know to request
longer stays even before being shown to their room."
NEW HAMPSHIRE, OFF THE BEATEN PATH
by Barbara Radcliffe Rogers and Stillman Rogers
"Its new owners have made Adair into an exceptional inn, with elegance,
comfort, and noticeable warmth. Original artwork decorates the eight tasteful
rooms. Spacious parlors and the gardens and lawns of the estate create an atmosphere
designed for relaxation. A stay here is well worth the higher-than-average rates."
"Adair has lured Tim and Biruta Carr, owners of Tim-bir Alley restaurant,
to move into the inn's two elegant dining rooms. Formerly in Littleton, Tim-bir
Alley provides an exceptional dining experience.
NEW ENGLAND'S BEST
by Nancy and Richard Woodworth
"The country-estate-style guest rooms on the second and third floors, all
with king and queen beds, are stylishly decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed
the front Lafayette Room, a commodious affair including a queen size poster
bed, a large sitting area with a gas stove and a bath with oversize soaking
tub.

"Great Country Inns to Dine For"
Although the food is frequently cited as some of the best in the region, you
must really show some restraint with the entrees, because the most secret delights
of this delightful inn are the incredible desserts like the mango chutney cheesecake
or the pear and white chocolate bread pudding with brandy caramel sauce."

"Ski Country's Best Beds"
by Sandy MacDonald
"Of the 10 rooms named for local mountains, I favor Lafayette, a sunlit
suitelet (it used to be two rooms) with a cherry four-poster at one end, a cast-iron
fireplace at the other and an inviting loveseat in between. Bring on the novels
and bonbons! Both of which might also be enjoyed, along with other pleasureable
activities, in the two-person soaking tub."
